I’ve been reading Donald Miller’s “Open Table,” it is a great read which I especially encourage churches to seek out and use as a resource
In this morning’s reading Miller was discussing how God does care for us (humanity) as a whole – and yet on the individual level as well. And in doing so said something I felt was of great value: God has no fear of common men and women.
This came after Mr. Miller was describing the birth of Jesus and how he was born into utter poverty – not the riches expected for a King.
Jesus was born a common man. Fully God – yet fully human.
But I especially like Miller’s turn of the words with “God has no fear of common men and women.”
God does not really care about our stature in life, for this life is but a brief moment in what will come.
Bill Gates is no more loved by God for all his wealth. Mother Teresa is no more loved by God for all the good she has done. Also the lowly sinner is no less loved.
We are all children of God – all Loved – with an uncommon Love.
