The other day I found myself with something I haven’t had in a while…quiet.
How did that happen you ask… Here are the steps:
1. Get yourself into some poison ivy/oak/sumac
2. Take kids to school/pre-school
3. Drop wife off at work
4. Go to doctor to be treated for Step 1; there you will have to wait in a quiet room called: The Waiting Room.
There I found myself with a few minutes to read and I took along Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s Life Together. It is a wonderful book I would recommend to anyone. And here is a bit that just jumped off the page for me, in fact I reread it several times right there in The Waiting Room:
Prayer means nothing else but the readiness and willingness to receive and appropriate the Word, and, what it more, to accept it in one’s persona; situation, particular tasks, decisions, sins, and temptations.
I don’t feel like there is anything else to be said.
