Waiting

We are now in Advent.
Advent is the season in the life of the church when we take time to remember and anticipate the coming of Christ.
It is a time of waiting.

I’m not the biggest fan of waiting.

I grow impatient quickly.
As a teenager I absolutely hated to wait.
And I was told to wait all the time:
“Wait for the teacher.”
“Wait for the bell.”
“Wait until we are ready.”
“Wait until you are older.”
“Wait and you will understand.”
“Wait.”

During this Advent season we remember the anticipated coming of Christ.
We remember he was born in a lowly manger,
and how he died and rose again for the forgiveness of our sins and the salvation of all.

So let us enter this time of waiting with reverence;
as we celebrate the birth of our Lord, and keep in mind Matthew 24:42:
42 Therefore, stay alert! You don’t know what day the Lord is coming.
