the Light

Isaiah 9:2 reads:
 The people who walked in darkness
    have seen a great light;
those who lived in a land of deep darkness—

    on them light has shined.

I love how this scripture starts with “Those who have walked in darkness…”
Because we have all walked in physical darkness, experienced the disorienting, uncertain feeling of having the lights turned off when we’re in a room.

But we know in that dark room we can turn the lights on, flip on the flashlight on our phone, or in Ye Olden times light a candle.

The room would be filled with a great light, and that light would shine on us as it would fill the room.

John 1:5 tells us “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness doesn’t extinguish the light.”

The darkness can never overcome the Light.

Christ brings to us this light.  And we are called as Christians to share this light with the world around us.  To find the dark places and bring in the light, extinguishing the darkness. I pray that those who find themselves in darkness experience the light of the Love of Christ.

May we all be the bearers of Light in a world often filled with darkness.
